My Secret Proposal

“Certain things are best left unsaid.
But, certain responsibilities are not!”

I flew. A new experience and it added onto one of the many firsts in my life. An immediate rush of thoughts emerged out of nowhere at the very instant. My Project batchmates were waiting for me to come, more precisely to say, for the USB thumb drive inside my pockets. It was our final review that day and I wondered if I would ever make it. Back in home, I had promised my Dad to get his Diabetes tablets for the next month. Once again, Mom was angry that I skipped my breakfast. I made a secret vow to her that I will have an early lunch. Finally, I thought of my Girlfriend-to-be! Yes, this term is more than perfect to describe our relationship. I haven’t told her yet! Last night, we had a serious fight and it remains unsettled. It hurts deeply when I think of all those open and closed possibilities that lie between us.
How I wish, I have enough time left to tell her how much I actually render her?

My flight came to an end.
In fact, the first sentence should have been ‘I was thrown high in the air’ instead of a sarcastic and proud ‘I flew’.
My thoughts came to a standstill, when my head made contact with the road, making a rather loud ‘thud’.
The last thing I saw, was that of a roadside shop selling Helmets with the signboard – ‘Save Your Lives. Use Helmets.’
How ironical that was, it brought a smile from me, the last of many!

I never made it to the Project Review.
I never got the tablets.
I never had any chance for a lunch.
I never told my girl.

I am Jerry, aged 20 and most importantly I am proclaimed as Dead.
Always remember that I am one amongst you, riding a bike in a hurry. Please do not make the same mistake.

Wear helmet while driving!
Otherwise, become an organ donor, just like me.
